Omega-3 EPA and DHA
The EPA and DHA found in the lipid extract of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) are in the form of phospholipids, a structure that facilitates their absorption by cell membranes. EPA and DHA are essential components of cell membranes and precursors of a class of cellular messengers called eicosanoids, which play a crucial role in regulating multiple physiological functions.
DHA is the primary omega-3 fatty acid found in retinal photoreceptors and nervous system structures. Functionally, it plays a significant role in mediating the biochemical processes that allow signal transmission between neurons.
EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function with a daily intake of 250 mg (2 soft capsules of Omegor® Krill).
DHA contributes to maintaining normal brain function and vision with a daily intake of 250 mg (6 soft capsules of Omegor® Krill).
Astaxanthin
It is a powerful antioxidant belonging to the carotenoid family, naturally present in the lipid extract of Antarctic krill. It is the only carotenoid capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier, offering antioxidant protection even at the brain level.
Choline
It is an essential nutrient, usually classified among the B-complex vitamins. In the form of phosphatidylcholine, it is a structural component of cell membranes and is involved in nerve impulse transmission.
Choline protects the liver from fat accumulation, contributing to the physiological metabolism of lipids, particularly cholesterol. It also contributes to normal lipid and homocysteine metabolism, and the maintenance of normal liver function, with a daily intake of 82.5 mg (2 soft capsules of Omegor® Krill).
